MEET ANNIE THE ARTSY DOULA
Why I’m a Doula
I am a Certified Labor Doula with Birth Arts International and Well Rounded Momma LLC.
The experience of pregnancy and birth has evolved over the years, especially in today’s modern era. I believe that the need for caring, sensitive and knowledgeable support during this time is becoming more and more apparent. I see every pregnancy and birth as a miracle and as a Doula I feel honored to be able to share in your journey.
A bit about me...I am a MN native and have lived in Las Vegas for 15 years. I graduated from the University of MN with a bachelors in Studio Art and Art History. I have worked in the hospitality industry at many of our casinos, including the Hard Rock and The Cosmopolitan. I enjoy painting, photography, nature, gardening and making my own soaps. I have a passion for all things that have to do with the creative process! The most wondrous of these creative processes to me, is bringing babies into this world.
When I had my son in 2015 I was very drawn to finding out all I could know about the birth process. I hired a doula, and I was able to achieve my natural birth in a hospital. Becoming a mother is life changing journey. I love supporting women and families on this beautiful event. Whether in a home setting or hospital, my goal is to empower you and your choices. It’s my honor to offer support, impart knowledge, and share friendship with you and your family during this special time.I use many techniques including aromatherapy with essential oils, massage and music. I give complimentary henna belly art to my clients if they like and take photos during births.
From our initial meeting all the way through your pregnancy and delivery, I take the time to get to know you, your concerns and your needs. I’m always available to contact by phone/email throughout and will provide everything you require to make sure your experience is as calm and positive as possible. Postpartum we will have 1-2 visits, averaging 1-2 hrs. Additional postpartum visits available as well.
After beginning our relationship with a meet and greet, as your doula I am committed to your health and the wellbeing of your growing family. We have 1-2 prenatal appointments (averaging 1.5 hours each). I am available whenever needed throughout your entire pregnancy as well as after giving birth. I will be there to provide you with continuous emotional and physical support, and answer any and all questions you may have.

HENNA BELLY ART
Henna Art (Mendhi) is an all natural plant based powder mixed with a liquid to create a paste used as a safe and non toxic dye. (I will not use black henna as it is not a natural product).
The tradition of using Henna as ritual is popular in India, North Africa, South Asia and the Middle East. It’s is often done around the 8th month of pregnancy. Many patterns used are said to bring about protection, health, and good luck for her birth.
The process allows the Mother to sit for an hour or so while others tend to her needs. It’s a joy to create this art and honor the woman as she prepares for the arrival of her baby. This practice is becoming more popular in the West and can be done at your home, at Blessingways and Showers.
“Annie did an amazing job of phone and text support and encouragement prior to the birth, reassuring me and helping build my confidence. During the actual birth she offered gentle but firm touch and handholding as well as words of encouragement and help holding the space that all seemed to happen at just the right moments.”
“I am a VBAC and being so I felt experienced and didn't think I needed a doula. My midwife convinced me so I thought I'd give it a shot. I didn't meet Annie until I was in labor and let me just say she was wonderful. She is so gentle and compassionate. She helped me focus, she helped me breathe through contractions and she gave me the confidence I didn’t have. She helped me get through transitioning by massaging, rubbing essential oils on me, and reassuring me that it will be okay.
Thank you, Annie, for helping me understand why women need doulas. After having Annie present, I don’t think I could have done it without her. I couldn’t say enough about her. She made us feel comfortable and because of her, I will recommend every woman get a doula. My family and I are forever grateful.”
“Birth is the pinnacle where women discover the courage to become mothers”
